Working Warriors Team Fishing Tournament Rules and Regulations 2011
Version 012011 supersedes any previous WWT Rules and Regulations
1. PARTICIPANTS AND ELIGIBILITY
Open to all individuals, male and female. Those under 18 years of age, not fishing with a parent, must have written permission from a parent or guardian. Working Warriors reserves the right to reject any entries which we feel is not in the best interest of the tournament. Fishing guides are permitted to participate in the tournament but cannot be on the lake for five days preceding the tournament day and cannot be hired to fish the tournament by any other participant.
All participants must sign the release of liability form to be eligible to compete.
2. ENTRY FEES
Entry fees shall be $50 per team per tournament and a $10 side pot for Big Bass. Entries will be accepted up until the last boat has left the morning of the tournament. Entry fee does not include boat launch fees.
3. PRIZE PAYOUT
Prize money will be awarded following the weigh in at each tournament. One place will be paid out per five teams entered. Big bass will be paid out in two places on tournaments with 10 or more boats. One place will be paid out for big bass for tournaments with less than 15 boats, two places will be paid out for 15 or more boats on a 70%/30% basis. 1st place and 2nd place big bass cannot be won by the same team. Winners are responsible for any and all taxes on any moneys or prizes won.
Payout will be 80% of all entry fees. 80% will be paid back as prize money. 20% of entry fees will be donated to Take a Soldier Fishing. The Big Bass pot pays 100% to the team(s) weighing the largest fish. Ties will be broken by the biggest fish caught based on weight. Big bass ties will be determined by the longest fish caught.
TASF operates under Operation Once in a Life Time which is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit public charity. All donations are 100% Tax deductible as allowed by law and go directly to help soldiers and military families. Entry fees are not considered Tax Deductible when entering into this tournament. Any additional contributions such as cash, product or services that have been rendered are eligible for a receipt. All donations are considered tax deductible to the maximum amount allowed by law.4. BONUS BUCKS - A BASS as stated below only pertains to Largemouth bass, Smallmouth Bass and Spotted Bass as determined by TPWD.
The "Bonus Bucks" program is designed to increase tournament payout and fun for everyone involved and includes the following Bonus Payouts;
5. HOST PROGRAM
The Host Program is designed for Bass Clubs and other Organizations who would like to participate in raising money for our Military Families and enjoy competitive bass fishing.
To Host a WW tournament the club or organization needs to guarantee five participants on a specific weekend. Bass Clubs can do this in conjunction with their own club tournament or use it as an opportunity to increase their exposure through an open tournament. Jackson Hill/TASF will promote the event throughout the surrounding communities and bass fishing network using Public Service Announcements and advertising prominently announcing the Clubs support for our Military Families. Organizations can use it in conjunction with a corporate event or industry gathering that can attract more participation and also display their appreciation for our Military Hero's.
Jackson Hill can provide for weigh master and tournament management services for organizations. Clubs can provide these services as they would normally or they can combine resources with Jackson Hill in any way that provides for a quality tournament experience.
6. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS
Championship points are awarded based on dollars raised for soldiers. There are three ways this can be done.
1. Entry Fee - 20% or $10 of each entry fee goes to our Soldiers and each entry in a WW tournament adds 10 Championship points. Clubs and Companies can combine points of participants they bring to their Hosted Event. Individuals who bring a group to the tournament can combine their points if the other anglers do not want their points.
2. Lodging - For every night spent in a participating location $5 will be donated to TASF and 5 championship points will be added to the individual, club or company.
3. Direct Donations - Any donations given or raised by an individual, club or company will be added dollar for dollar to their Championship Points total.
Championship points are used to determine participation in the WW Championship in October. An individual that accumulates 50 championship points will be eligible to fish in the WWC. Clubs and organizations can qualify one angler for every 50 championship points it accumulates.
Special awards will be given to individuals, clubs and companies for their contributions to help Soldiers and their families.
7. OFF LIMITS
There will be no off limits (except for fishing guides) or official practice days for Working Warrior events except during the pre-tournament meeting hours for the November Championship. All teams assume responsibility of finding out the time and location of the Friday night Pre-Championship Tournament meeting from the Tournament Director. Teams may not have the assistance of any non-competitor for the purpose of locating or catching fish on the competition day(s). The use of electronic communication devices for the purpose of sharing fishing information during tournament hours is prohibited.
8. TOURNAMENT HOURS
Tournament hours will be from safe light to 3:00 p.m. We reserve the right to assign flights and change hours if necessary.
9. LAUNCH SEQUENCE
If flights are assigned starting positions will be determined by a drawing of all participants and announced directly after the National Anthem at the Flag pole in front of the Jackson Hill Lodge. Participants not in attendance will be assigned a starting position at the back of the line by the Tournament Director. Trailering may be permitted based on the best judgment of the Tournament Director.
10. SAFETY
Safe boating conduct must be observed at all times. Each competitor is required to wear a Coast Guard approved personal floatation device, securely fastened, at all times while the boat is on plane. Furthermore a kill switch must be fastened to the driver anytime the combustion engine is propelling the boat. Failure to do so is grounds for disqualification of the offending team's catch. Running lights must be operational and turned on as required by law. Each competitor's boat must be equipped with a livewell system capable of keeping a tournament limit of bass alive. Any boat equipped with a motor that exceeds the horse power rating of the boat according to the manufacturer is prohibited from being used in the Tournament. All auxiliary gas tanks and bladder tanks that are not installed by the boat manufacturer are prohibited. Additional gas tanks that are factory options and installed by a manufacturer's authorized dealer are legal. Boats that do not have factory-installed gas tanks are restricted to a maximum of 18 gallons of gasoline in tanks that meet U.S. Coast Guard regulations. Gas tanks must be properly secured or strapped in the boat. During the tournament, no portable gas tanks or containers capable of holding gasoline can be placed anywhere on the tournament waters or shoreline for use by any tournament competitor.
11. SPORTSMANSHIP
Each contestant is expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, and conservation. No team may fish within 5o yards of a anchored boat with the trolling motor up. No team may fish within 25 yards of any other boat without permission from the other boat, however permission may not be granted at the exclusion of any other team. No hole sitting by a non-competitor or by another competitor, to aid a tournament participant will be allowed. Violators will have their catch disqualified.
12. TACKLE AND FISHING METHODS
Only artificial baits may be used. No live or cut bait is permitted (pork baits are permitted). All bass must be caught alive in a legal and sporting manner. No snagging. Each competitor may only use 1 rod at a time. No more than 1 line in the water at a time per angler. Trolling with the combustion motor is not permitted. No competitor may leave the boat to land or catch fish.
13. STATE AND FEDERAL GAME REGULATIONS
All participants are expected to abide by all state and federal laws and game regulations. Any team who intentionally violates a law or regulation in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage will have their catch disqualified. In the case of multiple governing authorities, the strictest law is applicable. Any participant who consumes, or is under the influence of alcoholic beverages, stimulants or depressants will have their catch disqualified. (Prescribed medications taken per doctor's instructions are excluded.) If any laws or regulations are violated the participant will be directed to the Local Law enforcement agency such as the Game Warden.
14. SCORING
A limit of 5 bass (largemouth, Smallmouth, or spotted bass) may be weighed in. Minimum length is 14 inches measured with mouth closed. A short fish brought to the scales will not be weighed, and will result in a 1 pound penalty. Dead fish will be penalized .25 (1/4) pound. The dead fish penalty will also apply to any fish weighed as a Big Fish if that fish is dead. All culling must be done at the time the 6th fish is caught; no team may continue fishing with more than the tournament limit in the live well at any time during the tournament, with the exception of dead fish that is not included in their limit. On any water where State or local laws prohibit culling or impose limits of less than 5 fish, the state or local laws will replace the above as the rule.
15. EMERGENCIES
Competitors shall remain with their partners in the boat at all times during the tournament, except in the event of sickness or brief excursions for "nature calling", severe storm or other such hazard. It is permitted for a competitor to leave the boat for marina services. Competitors may leave the boat to dislodge it, but only to return the boat in the direction it came from. Leaving the boat to advance it is not permitted. (In falling water conditions, a team may leave the boat to advance it only to return from water they accessed without leaving the boat.) If for any reason either or both team members decide to leave the tournament waters early, both members shall bear full responsibility for notifying a tournament official. If one team member leaves the water early, he/she may not return and resume fishing. However, his/her partner may continue fishing for the remainder of the tournament hours. In case of a breakdown, one partner may return with fish by another tournament boat or a Jackson Hill staff boat while the other partner is permitted to stay with the disabled boat.
16. WEIGH-IN PROCEDURES
Weigh-in will be on a first come first serve basis. Once fish have been presented to a Tournament Official to be weighed-in, all fish become the property of the Jackson Hill and no additional fish may be brought to the scales. Bags will be limited in order to avoid a bottleneck at the weigh-in tanks. Teams not weighing any fish are still required to check in with tournament officials in order to account for all teams. Once a team member has checked in or left the boat for the purpose of checking in, neither team member may fish or continue fishing.
17. LATE PENALTY
Competitors who are not checked in at the deadline time will be penalized at a rate of 1 pound per minute, up to 15 minutes at which time their catch will be disqualified. Late penalties will be deducted from "Big Fish" weight as well as total weight.
18. PROTEST AND POLYGRAPH TEST
Any protest must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Director within 15 minutes of the close of the weigh-in. Anyone protesting the tournament results must be willing to sign a sworn statement regarding their protest. Jackson Hill reserves the right to give a polygraph test to any participant at any time. This test does not have to be administered on site and may be set up by the Tournament Director at their discretion. All participants agree to abide by the results of any polygraph test administered. In the event of a protest and an off-site polygraph test the Tournament Director will have the option of mailing all the checks to the teams in the money pending the outcome of the polygraph. By entering into the Working Warrior's Tournament you agree to be subject to a Random Polygraph test to determine eligibility for your winnings. Should a participant refuse to take the test or "Fail" as determined by the qualified individual administering the test, that participant may be disqualified from that tournament and future tournaments with the Working Warrior's. It is the sole discretion of the Tournament Director, if a participant is to be disqualified for rule violations or is required to take a polygraph test.
19. VIOLATION OF RULES AND DISQUALIFICATION
Any team or team member found in violation of any rule may face disqualification of their team's catch. If the director feels that their violation was a willful attempt to gain an unfair advantage or to intentionally cheat, then the director has the right to refuse entry from that team or team members in the future.
20. RULES INTERPRETATION
Interpretation of these rules will be left to the Tournament Director. Infractions of any rule may result in disqualification of the catch. All decisions are final and may be disputed according to the "protest" section of the rules.
